Cobalt Metric Drill Bits (Pack of 12), D/AMMCO Series

The Drill America D/AMMCO series heavy-duty jobber length drill bit is manufactured to the National Aerospace Standard 907. Made of heat-resistant cobalt steel, it displays higher red hardness, which permits speeds up to 30 percent greater than High-Speed Steel drills. This drill bit is especially effective in drilling tough, high tensile strength materials like PH stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium.

Cobalt steel tools are similar to high-speed steel, but with more cobalt for improved performance when cutting harder metals such as stainless steel or nickel alloys. The gold oxide surface treatment used on these tools is thinner than the typical black oxide, making it a more effective identifier for cobalt steel tools. The performance of the gold oxide-treated tools is similar to that of uncoated tools.

The round shanks of these drill bits allow for use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut), the spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut, reducing the risk of clogging.
