Drill America D/ACO1/8P12 1/8 Cobalt Heavy Duty Drill Bit (Pack of 12)

The Drill America jobber length drill bit is manufactured to the National Aerospace standard 907. These drill bits are made of heat-resistant cobalt, which gives them higher red hardness, allowing them to operate at speeds up to 30 percent greater than High-Speed Steel drills. They are particularly effective in drilling tough, high-tensile strength materials like PH stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium.

Cobalt steel tools are similar to high-speed steel, but with more cobalt for improved performance when cutting harder metals such as stainless steel or nickel alloys. The gold oxide surface treatment used on these tools is a thinner oxide layer than the typical black oxide, which helps to identify them as cobalt steel tools. The performance of these coated tools is similar to that of uncoated tools.

The round shanks on these drill bits allow for use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut), the spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut, reducing the risk of clogging.
